So with nobody stepped up to report for Cardsweb and for the sake of keeping up a compelte set of reports, for the time being anyway, I thought with the aid of Southern Counties excellent commentary I would provide some sort of report even if it ended up wildly inaccuare and with no opinions having not actually seen the match. Therefore, any subjective comments probably came from the commentator, who's name escapes me, or the injured co-commentator Tom Hutchinson.

Luckily, the first real incident to report needed no opinion and was of vital importance. After Marvin Morgan had had an early attempt at goal Woking struck when Matt Pattison charged down keeper' Ben Connett's clearance and rolled the ball into the back of the net to give the Cards a crucial early lead after just four minutes.

Eleven minutes in and Joe Gatting (or Batting, if you want to believe the BBC) took the ball on his chest and fired in a volley that flew just wide. The Cards kept going forward and Pattison had another long range attempt from 25 yards out which wasn't far away. A Chris Williams' free kick was closed down moments later as the home side came back into it.

Woking hit back almost immediately though when Gatting had an effort scrape the bar on 18 minutes. Nick Gindre was then called into action making a great double save, first from Kevin Townson and then getting in the way of the rebound from Richard Battersby. It proved crucial as the Cards capitalise on 22 minutes. Goma Lambu providing a pin-point cross for Joe Batting Gatting to guide into the back of the net to make it 2-0.

The midfield three were really dominating with Kevin James pulling the strings with Woking looking 'fairly comfortable'. On the half hour, Northwich almost got a goal back coming down the left wing. Bradley Maylett getting the ball into Ryan Brown who hit across Gindre's goal but wide of the target. Shortly after and Michael Coulson was booked for diving in the vicinity of Matt Ruby.

On 35 minutes, Gatting lined up James for a long range effort and it wasn't far away before nearly ending up in the toilets. On 41 minutes, Marvin Morgan took advantage of another poor Connett clearance and managed to get an effort on target but it was not quick enough to get over the line and was cleared away. Coulson then hit a long range effort way over. Moments before half time Bradley Quamina also had a good long range effort punched away by Connett to safety.

On the verge of half time, Woking were given another warning sign as Coulson drilled just wide of Gindre's goal. Hutch commented at half time that he thought Gray would tell the team to 'keep at them' and 'keep the ball'. He admitted the defence was sitting a bit too deep. Northwich started the second half more brightly and counter attacked well from a Woking corner on 49 minutes when Townson tested Gindre from long range. On 52 minutes, Northwich went close again when the ball ended up on the roof of Gindre's net following an effort from Michael Carr. Northwich had the better of the first fifteen minutes of the second half and Frank Gray made a change bringing on Paul Hakim for Marvin Morgan on 61 minutes.

On 63 minutes, substitute Hakim skewed an effort wide following a good run. From then on Northwich Victoria began to dominate proceedings trying to fight back from two goals down. However, Woking defended well and didn't give away that many chances. On 76 minutes, Paul Tait came on to replace Williams. However, Woking wrapped things up on 83 minutes when Paul Hakim was allowed in following a slip and finished well. However, just a minute later and a free kick from Ryan Brown looped over Gindre's head and into the back of the net. Hakim had the ball the ball in the net in the 89th minute but it was deemed offside long before he finished it.

Hutch was pleased with the performance and praised the start that effectively won them the game. He praised the defence for a good performance and said that even though the second half was a 'bit flat' he thought 'we deserved the three points'. Woking defended stoutly and Hutch hoped that this would give the team 'confidence for Thursday'. He also hoped that the toe would be ok for the mid week match.

Frank Gray said that he thought the first half performance was good and that we 'deserved the three points'. He felt we 'started sharp' and that to get 'that sort of lead away from home was good'. He thought it was a 'very good performance defensively' and that 'they had a lot of possession but didn't carved us up too many times'. He thought that 'maybe backline was a little too deep' but that the Northwich goal was a freak. He thought that the 'finishing was good' and was impressed with Pattison's goal due to the closing down.

Pattison said that 'the manager was over the moon with the goal' and that he told them to 'pretend we were 1-0 down' before the start. He said the goal 'gets my confidence up' and that he 'needed a performance today as I have not been performing well recently'. He also said the players 'all came here today wanting nothing less than a win'.
