Kidderminster Harriers
Aggborough Stadium, Hoo Road, Kidderminster, DY10 1NB Tel: 01562 823931 Fax: 01562 827329
Who are they?

Kidderminster Harriers began life as a football team back in 1886 and were founder member of the Birmingham and district league a few seasons later. It took them until 1939 to leave this league and they joined the Southern League. As with most teams back in the day, the war brought and end to their proceeding in this league and by 1960 had moved back in the B&D League until 1970 when once again they were back in the Southern League. Here is where they remained until 1983 when they finally gained promotion to the conference (back then the alliance premier league) after finishing 2nd to Leamington Spa, who were refused entry into the league.

The 80s bought more success to Kidderminster, twice being finalist in the Welsh FA Cup and winning the trophy with a 2-1 victory over Burton Albion in a replay at the Hawthorns (Oh happy memories). The 90s brought more FA Cup success to Kidderminster when the managed to reach the FA Cup fifth round before battling to a brave 1-nil defeat at home to West Ham.

The 98/99 season saw Kidderminster win the Nationwide Conference under the guidance of Liverpool legend Jan Molby, and there they have plodded along nicely. However by 2003, Jan had resigned from the club and it never seemed to get going again. They were eventually condemned back to the Conference at the end of the 04-05 season and have had two mid table finishes since.

What's it like?

aggborough: very red
[photo: stadiums.football.co.uk]

Aggborough has one main stand alongside one side of the pitch, with the remaining sides all of terrace description. It appears a fairly nice ground through looking at the pictures as yet I have not been there myself. Its seems as though it is very 'Red' so us Cards should feel relatively at home here, although it is a good 100 or so miles away.. The ground is on the outskirts of the town itself so there should be plenty of room for ample parking.

How to get there
Directions courtesy of www.harriers.premiumtv.co.uk.

By car
Leave M5 at junction 4 (signposted A491 Stourbridge). After approximately 5 miles, turn left onto A456 and follow towards Kidderminster. At roundabout on Kidderminster Ring Road, take first exit (signposted A451 Stourport). At next roundabout, take first exit (signposted A448 Bromsgrove), then take first turning on right (Hoo Road).

By train
Kidderminster station is only a half a mile walk from Aggborough. To get there from the station, walk down Comberton hill towards the town centre and take the left turning just before Motorway tyres. Walk up Hoo Road for about half a mile and Aggborough shall appear before you.
