September 2003

Welcome to Beck Treks Peru!

In 2003 I trekked to Machu Picchu in Peru to raise money for Cancer Research. The money is still being counted, but the final amount is around £4500 and I am very grateful to everyone who supported me. My trek journal is now online, with photos and my diary of the experience.

This site is in memory of Carol Aslin, and the trek is dedicated to her.

The Charca Huaylla Pass - 4,395m - finally reached at around mid-day after setting off at 6am (L-R: Liz, Lisa, Beck, Nicky, John).

Journal Online
Peru was the most difficult and also the most rewarding experience of my entire life. It is without question the best thing I've ever done, and I would like to thank everyone for their fantastic support.

My journal is now online so please feel free to have a read (warning: it's long - but I wanted something to remember the trip by). I've had a few emails from people who are going on this trek next year - good luck; you'll have the time of your life. If anyone reading this is feeling nervous and has any questions, please get in touch.

Thanks again to everyone who supported my fundraising - and thanks also to my fellow trekkers, ATD and Cancer Research people and the local guides, cooks and porters - should any of them happen to be reading this! It was a pleasure to have met you all.

Beck.
